Carl Sargeant was born in 1968 in St. Asaph, North Wales. He is married to Bernie and has two children, Lucy and Jack. He has lived in Connah’s Quay all his life and his parents, Malcolm & Sylvia also live in the area.
He is a local Town Councillor and represented the Community and Council as Chairman in 2001. Currently serving Golftyn Ward in Connah’s Quay, he was also Vice-Chairman of the Recreation and Entertainment Committee.
He has also had Chairman Responsibilities for Planning within the Town. Carl has many interests within the Community and serve as a Governor at Deeside College of Further Education and Ysgol Bryn Deva Primary.
With football a family interest, Carl has many connections with Connah's Quay Tigers and enjoys watching many teams within the league.
Previously employed by a leading manufacturing company in North Wales he has trained as a Quality & Environmental Auditor and also as an industrial fire-fighter.
In the Assembly, Carl is Government Chief Whip and Deputy Business Manager, he is a former Chair of the North Wales Regional Committee. In the first Assembly, he sat on the Enterprise, Innovation & Networks subject committee and was a member of the Railway, Infrastructure and Passenger Committee. He was also a member of the Assembly’s Audit Committee.
