CARL SARGEANT AM WELCOMES FALL IN CRIME ON RAILWAYS
Carl Sargeant, AM for Alyn and Deeside, is welcoming today’s announcement by the British Transport Police that Welsh railways are safer than ever – with overall crime down 8.6% on the previous year.Mr Sargeant said: “These new figures are great news for rail passengers and staff alike. “The fall in crime, including violent crime and criminal damage, has only been made possible by the hard work and dedication of the British Transport Police and the staff in the rail industry. “Crime on our railways has actually fallen for the last four successive years – against a background of rising and record passenger numbers. The BTP and rail staff should be commended for this significant achievement.”
