CARL SARGEANT AM WELCOMES ELECTRIC DOG COLLAR STATEMENT
Carl Sargeant, AM for Alyn and Deeside, is welcoming moves to ban the use of electric training aids, including shock collars, because of concerns about unnecessary suffering to pet animals. The announcement follows a public consultation on the issue. The Minister received 173 responses to the consultation, including one from Mr Sargeant in support of a ban.Mr Sargeant said: “The Assembly Government takes issues of animal welfare very seriously, and I am pleased that we are proposing to ban these barbaric instruments.“Electric dog collars are cruel and lazy ways of disciplining and training canines. Dogs are intelligent animals who respond well to good, consistent training. There is absolutely no need to use pain or fear. “Electric dog collars are inhumane and I strongly welcome a ban on their use.”The Welsh Assembly Government will now produce, and consult on, draft detailed Regulations to introduce the ban, giving further consideration to whether the sale and possession of electric shock collars should be included in the ban. The ban will be the first of its kind in the UK.

Haven't the Welsh Assembly got better things to do? Has there been a great public outcry about these devises???? I do wish MP's MEP's and AM's would stop wasting tax payers money
