AM Welcomes Decision

Carl Sargeant AM Welcomes Ofwat Decision to Cut Water Bills
Carl Sargeant Welsh Assembly Member for Alyn & Deeside has today broadly welcomed the findings of Ofwat the water industry regulator. Ofwat has announced the findings of a review process that will set the price limit that water companies can charge customers for their water and sewerage services. The average bill for Alyn & Deeside residents will drop by 7% over the next five years.
The average household water and sewerage bill will reduce in real terms from £404 in 2009-10 to £374 in 2014-15.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water were the only water and sewerage company in England and Wales not to propose an increase in bills.
Carl Sargeant Assembly Member for Alyn & Deeside said;“I broadly welcome the decision by Ofwat as a step in the right direction, since water industry privatisation in 1989 the public has been rightly concerned at the rising cost of their water bill’s therefore it is welcome news that the joint working between the Welsh Assembly Government and Ofwat is now seeking to ensure a fairer pricing system is put into place.”
