Save The Bonfire

SAVE THE DEESIDE BONFIRE DISPLAY
PLEADS CARL SARGEANT AM
Concerns are growing that the annual Deeside Bonfire Display is to be cancelled this year.
The Display which is in its 42nd year has been put under threat this month by the County Council who have informed the Deeside Fire Service that they will be unable to provide the Deeside Leisure Centre Site for the planned 2010 Bonfire Display, due to planned repair works to the 5-a-side pitches.
Carl Sargeant, Local AM for Alyn & Deeside said,

“For over forty years Deeside families have attended the display at the Leisure Centre as it is the best and safest way to enjoy the occasion locally.
“In previous years, about 1,000 people across the UK have gone to hospital with a firework-related injury, with half of the victims being under the age of 18. I am fearful that without a local organised display then injuries locally could increase; I would urge the County Council to ensure that the display does continue in Deeside.”
