AM Congratulates Local Workers

LOCAL DOMESTIC ABUSE WORKERS

Carl Sargeant AM for Alyn & Deeside called in to personally congratulate the staff at the Deeside Domestic Abuse Safety Unit (DASU) who were recently crowned regional Team of the Year in the annual Trinity Mirror/Scottish Power Your Champions awards.

Carl Sargeant nominated the DASU for the award and following the award ceremony the local Labour AM called in at the unit’s new premises in Shotton to personally congratulate the team on gaining the prestigious award.

Carl Sargeant AM for Alyn & Deeside said,

“I was delighted to hear the news that the local team had been successful in the regional competition, I know the importance and value of the Safety Unit to local victims of domestic abuse and I am really pleased that they have gained recognition and reward for their fabulous efforts.”

The specially trained domestic abuse safety advisers give advice on how to recognise signs of abuse, personal safety, how to access safe houses and ways to regain self-confidence and move on from the relationship.

They offer free and confidential advice and operate a 24-hour helpline.
