Local AM Congratulates Communty Parents Scheme
Alyn & Deeside AM Carl Sargeant has congratulated volunteers involved in a Community Parenting scheme in Flintshire.
Carl Sargeant Alyn & Deeside AM attended an awards ceremony for volunteers involved in Community Parenting at Buckley Westwood School this week.
The Community Parents programme recruits and trains parents from the local community as volunteers to offer support to other parents in their area. The aim is to match volunteers to a family, ideally with a new baby but the programme is open to any parent. Volunteers and families meet up for an hour on a monthly basis (more frequently initially) and discuss progress on issues raised.
The Group offers family’s prenatal Services, early detection & treatment of postnatal depression, parenting information and support amongst other services.
Carl Sargeant AM for Alyn & Deeside said,
“The Community Parenting scheme is unique in Wales and I am delighted that the volunteers are receiving recognition for the valuable work that they undertake for families across our community.”
