AM Welcomes Funding

EXTRA £10 MILLION TO RELIEVE LOCAL AUTHORITY PRESSURES
Carl Sargeant has welcomed news that Councils across Wales are set to receive an extra £10 million of funding from the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government to relieve pressures on children’s social services and maintain community facilities such as sports centres and family centres.
To further the Assembly Government’s Social Justice objectives, the Welsh Assembly is distributing around £4.5 million in capital funding and around £5.5 million more in revenue funding.
Carl Sargeant said,
“This will help local authorities to maintain their spending programmes for the next financial year. By using this money to fund spending programmes that are already in progress, they can then free up resources for future year spends.”
The additional money will be funded from underspend on other programmes and will be allocated to individual local authorities, Flintshire County Council will receive an extra £219,800 in capital funding and a further £195,237 in additional revenue funding for next year.
